Describe the bug
Collection with three dinky files seems to not resolve. All Ok?

Galaxy Version and/or server at which you observed the bug
UseGalaxy.org
The Galaxy Server is running version 24.0.rc1 , and the web client was built on Thursday Mar 14th 3:00:16 2024 GMT-7 .

Browser and Operating System
Operating System: Windows, Linux, macOS
Browser: Firefox, Chrome, Chrome-based, Safari

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
0. Upload some datasets, put them into a collection

  1. Click on the pencil icon for a collection
  2. Go to the Convert tab -- loads less than a minute or so (OK)
  3. Go to the Datatypes tab -- doesn't load after 10 minutes?
  4. Log into account using a different browser, still never loads.
  5. Refresh browser, copy history into new history = both not enough

Expected behavior
Process the form inputs quicker? Maybe warn if cannot resolve (no alternatives for datatype? see use case below)?

Screenshots
If applicable, add screenshots to help explain your problem.

Additional context
Example history: https://usegalaxy.org/u/jen-galaxyproject/h/test-ux-behavior-edit-att--datatypes

Use case example
Upload files with autodetect, notice wrong datatype assigned, put files into collection and attempt to update the datatype in a batch. For this case, gg was autodetected (wrong guess) .. could that be part of the problem (not part of a larger cross-convert pool aka tabular/bed/text)?

Confirmed. This seems to only happen if the initial dataset datatypes were auto detected. If the datatype is indicated when uploading the files, the dropdown is populated as expected:
