the sourceforge project is effectively abandoned; because JP's sourceforge
account is the only one with authority to publish code or releases to
sourceforge - freewheeling has a rather nostalgic community which would not
allow the software to be abandoned - in any case, that would have been 8 years
ago, before the project was established on github
since then, the software has been maintained continuously and available in
mainstream distros (debian, ubuntu, etc) - as it was 20 years ago, that is
still the easiest way to install freewheeling

freewheeling audio interfaces to the OS via JACK - IIRC it was always possible
using the windows port of JACK - depending on how well-maintianed the windows
port of JACK is, the io-specific audio code would need to be re-implemented

i tried to contact him at three different email addresss - they all bounced - i
can only refer to the past discussion when the community noticed (Oct and Nov
2016) that he had not responded to the mailing list for some time
prior

Hi there. I am lifelong Freewheeling user (since ca 2008). I know this projects is basically abandoned. Since FW is using mostly cross-platform libraries (eg. SDL) my question is how hard would it be to port FW for Windows platforms?
Also I have long not heard of JP Mercury, the original author of this soft. Is there any info about him where he is in life now?
