Upgrade terraform EKS bootstrap code to flux 1.4.0

We have flux version 1.2.3 deployed in EKS using the flux_install method outlined in https://registry.terraform.io/providers/fluxcd/flux/1.0.0-rc.5/docs/guides/gitlab_deprecated, but would now like to update to version1.4.0.

I would like to convert to new flux_bootstrap_git terraform method, but what migration process should be used to migrate the terraform code from the old terraform resources to the new? Save the state file, remove the old flux terraform resources from state file, and deploy the new flux_bootstrap_git resources?
