@aednlaxer thanks for taking the time to write this! I left some quick notes, the main of which is "we should drop the Flutter Widget as a Marker icon", at least for now. More details in the doc!

Thank you for your comments! Dropping View Markers support sounds like a logical step at this point. We've updated the doc to reflect this and made some other changes
