Lotus releases

Note: This projected timeline may be subject to change based on testing and development!

You will need to be on lotus v1.12.0 or later for the Chocolate upgrade. We will be publishing two lotus releases before this upgrade:

• lotus v1.12.0: It is based on the last stable release, lotus v1.11.3, and includes only the consensus-breaking changes for the Network v14 Chocolate upgrade. We recommend ecosystem teams like node operators, exchanges, and so on to upgrade your node to this version as soon as the release is tagged.
• lotus v1.13.0: This release will include everything in v1.12.0 plus the latest functionality and improvements, including data transfer rate-limiting, proof perf improvement, and so on. We highly recommend users like storage providers, data brokers, and so on upgrading your nodes and all systems to this release once it's out!

Note: Timeline-wise, v1.12.0 will be released once all FIPs to be included in the upgrade are accepted(all last calls are due on Oct 11th). For v1.13.0, following the lotus release flow, if all testing goes well then we are expecting to publish v1.13.0 in the week of Oct 18th-22rd.

lotus v1.12.0-rc1

lotus v1.12.0-rc1 is out with actor v6-rc1. This is the first release candidate for lotus v1.12.0, a mandatory release of Lotus. It is intended to test the upcoming chocolate upgrade of Filecoin. It sets the calibration test network to be updated at epoch 312746, which is at 10:15 AM EST on Tuesday, October 5th.

Note: FIPs (FIP 20-24 & #189) included are based on optimistic acceptance, things may well change.

Things you may try:

• Config BatchPreCommitAboveBaseFee for PreCommitSectorBatch
• Deal makings
• Monitor actor logs for burn event tracking!

lotus v1.12.0-rc2

lotus v1.12.0-rc2 is out with actor v6-rc2. This release sets the Chocolate Mainnet upgrade epoch at 1231620. It also fix a bug where getting the value of WithdrawBalance was not protected by the network version (should only be allowed after the Chocolate Upgrade).

lotus v1.12.0

lotus v1.12.0 is out!This is a mandatory release of Lotus that introduces Filecoin Network v14, codenamed the Chocolate upgrade. The Filecoin mainnet will upgrade at epoch 1231620, on 2021-10-26T13:30:00Z.

The Chocolate upgrade introduces the following FIPs, delivered in v6 actors

• FIP-0020: Add return value to WithdrawBalance
• FIP-0021: Correct quality calculation on expiration
• FIP-0022: Bad deals don't fail PublishStorageDeals
• FIP-0023: Break ties between tipsets of equal weight
• FIP-0024: BatchBalancer & BatchDiscount Post-HyperDrive Adjustment
• FIP-0026: Extend sector faulty period from 2 weeks to 6 weeks

Note that this release is built on top of lotus v1.11.3. Enterprising users like storage providers, data brokers and others are recommended to use lotus v1.13.0 for latest new features, improvements and bug fixes.

lotus v1.13.0 is out! This is the recommended version for the upcoming chocolate upgrade. Update your nodes before 1231620, otherwise you may lose sync with the network!

Monitor the migration

Simply subscribe to key words STARTING pre-migration, COMPLETED pre-migration, STARTING migrationand COMPLETED migration in your lotus daemon warning log to get migration status for your node. To confirm your node has successfully finished the migration, run lotus state get-actor f00 and Code=(fil/6/system) indicates your node has finished actor v5→v6 migration successfully!
