Currently, .mkv is already supported. However, in contrast with other file extensions, such as .mp4, the video will only start to play after the entire file has been downloaded. I do not know if this is a limitation of the current player being used, or if it is a limitation of the .mkv file format itself.
If partially downloaded .mkv files are indeed reproducible, then it should be just a matter of replacing the current player for a better one.
Actually, the request for more players has already been brought up in #2. I would do this myself but am currently lacking of time. If you can do this, please submit a PR and I shall gladly merge the new (better) player. 👍
I don't think it's possible to transcode it but I thought I might still ask.
