Summary

To help users understand how to report campaign finance transactions, we need to continue drafting the content portion of the reporting examples (language + images) that will go with the candidate section within Help for Candidates and Committees.

Specifically, we have received feedback that a Termination reporting example would be useful for committees of all types.

Feedback through fec.gov feedback from regulated user:

I was trying to find more information about how to use FECFile to close my committee. The website tells me I need to submit a Termination Report but there is no information about where I would create this Report as opposed to Form 3? fecgov/FEC#12716

Completion criteria

  • draft initial reporting example
  • submit request for images from Jim Jones
  • draft circulated to RAD review

Future work

Final review by Brad Matheson, Content Team, and wagtail publication.

A few notes from RAD's Customer Service Survey related to the publication of this reporting example.

Question: Is there a topic you would like to see added to FEC outreach programs or the website resources?

A: process to dissolve a PAC, and advise no further reports will be filed
A: I’m not totally sure how to shut down a PAC via fecfile
A: Yes. I would like to get instructions on how to close out and end a required FEC campaign filing

Draft was submitted by @ryanfec, I made only a few edits related to generalizing the content for all committees so we didn't violate the content in one source principle.
Images submitted to Jim.
Draft circulated to RAD Managers.
