Technical correction to regulations

Summary

RAD and OGC recently identified an error in the regulations, (104.3(a)(3)(vii)(C)). They have worked with the Federal Register to report the error and start the process for updating the regs. Until then it is the preference of those offices that we provide clarification regarding these edits.

The initial preference was for us to modify the eRegulations to display the corrected version of the regulation language; however, after discussing that plan with the team, we can't make edits to eRegulation until the Federal Register API is updated.

As an alternative approach, OGC and RAD recommend adding a "Technical Correction" section to the regulation landing page to provide an explanation about the forthcoming technical corrections. The page update will have two parts:

• a bullet on this page explaining the error
• a link to a PDF with the corrected regulation

The updated regulations page will look something like this:

(yellow highlight for purposes of highlighting the area that will be changed on the page. This will not be highlighted yellow on the final page)

Completion criteria

• Get explanatory text for regulations page and PDF from OGC
• Update wagtail page to update the language
• Content team review prior to publication

Future work

This technical correction will have to be removed once the regulations PDF and eRegulations are updated.

Checked in with OGC on this issue. Other pressing issues took precedence over this. Once I receive the wording and the document , I will create a draft an circulate to the content team for review.

Checked in with OGC again. Same update as above, other OGC work is a priority for them at this time. Issue will stay blocked until I receive a draft from them.

Received response from OGC containing an updated version of the affected regulations and some language for the regs landing page. Will moved this ticket into this sprint. Will create a draft, circulate it to OGC, RAD, and the content team for review.

Drafted a response and circulated the edits to the Content Team. Will incorporate feedback and distribute to OGC/RAD for review.

Decided to distinguish this "technical correction" from the other changes that are already listed on the regulations page. This new technical correction section can easily be deleted once the new version of the regulations are published and we've parsed them for our regulations search.
