This is a sub-task of: https://github.com/18F/fec-cms/issues/404

The first wave of migration from FEC.gov to betaFEC will be the Library.

In the first wave, we're bringing over these content types:

  • News advisories
  • Press releases
  • Weekly Digests
  • Tips for Treasurers
  • The Record

Content needs:

  • We need content for a Library landing page, which introduces readers to each content type.
  • Each content type will additionally need its own subpage (accessible from the Library landing page).

It's very difficult to talk about content design in a vacuum (i.e., without knowing what the visual design elements and interaction components of the page will be). But I want to try, because I'd like to start hacking away at this migration as much as we're able.

Here's a rough estimation of content for the library homepage:

Looking at the above, it'd be helpful to know:

  1. Before we go any further with finalizing a rough draft, are there folks at FEC that we should talk to or get opinions from?
  2. Do you see any red flags with the direction this is headed?
  3. This is largely interface writing and not legal or technical guidance. Whose approval will we need to implement content and (later) visual designs?

p.s. I want to keep plugging away at migration tasks as much as I'm able. But if you think it's going to be bad for morale to move forward without talking to more folks or getting more input on the IA readout, let's talk about this
