Summary

What we are after:
We are looking to get off transition. A few years ago, we migrated E&Js to fec.gov and uploaded many of them into the CMS. We have a little content team version of technical debt going, because we need to move the remaining few E&Js from the 1970s into the CMS and then put in redirects for all.

Completion criteria

  • All E&Js are uploaded to CMS (including older ones that aren't there now)
  • Links on citation/chronological indexes in our CMS are updated (links in the appendix we will just redirect)
  • Redirects are put in (see spreadsheet of old and new URLs for E&Js in the Content Redirects shared folder)
  • Redirects are deployed and merged by @patphongs
  • Redirects are tested
  • Ticket put in to take down E&Js off the transition site after redirects are put in - We will hold off for now until the Policy page work is done, and then take down those directories as a whole.

Future work

  • Taking down the E&Js off transition.

Am currently working on making the few remaining PDFs (there's about 10) accessible before uploading.

I've uploaded the remaining E&Js and their links on https://www.fec.gov/legal-resources/regulations/explanations-and-justifications/chronological-index-1975-1979/.

Updating the citation appendixes is going to be labor-intensive, but will get done in my spare time. First though, I'll work on putting in the redirects.

Have put the redirects in with other redirects for another GH ticket in one PR - fecgov/fec-proxy#178

The redirects are working. We will hold off on taking those pages down now until the planned policy page work is done - then we can take down the whole directory.

Closing ticket.
