What we're after
Presidential campaigns need guidance too. In past issues, we've identified resources for it, and determined that some existing pages in our candidate H4CC section will need modification. We've drafted those revisions and they are under OGC review now. This issue is for the work that follows after we receive OGC's comments.

Past work: #2769, #2698 , #2697, #2651, #2806

To do

  • Once OGC returns comments, go through them and see if we need to draft anything new.
  • Edit Wagtail pages to make revisions
  • Content team final review before publishing (Two pairs of eyes rule)
  • In the case of two pages, the slug is going to need to change, so make that change.
  • Put in a redirect from old slug to new slug.
  • Look at title and search description fields in H4CC candidate section pages and update as needed to include presidential or make generic to all federal candidates (SEO)
  • Update collection page links and link text as needed. (Only needed in registration bucket)

OGC has not yet returned comments on this, so work is blocked until they do.

I've heard back from OGC that they'll return comments by July 4, so moving this to 9.4.

OGC has returned their comments. I'll go through them today and see what kind of additional edits we need to make.

The process of editing and proofreading the pages has begun. Many thanks to @bmathesonFEC for agreeing to be the second pair of eyes! OGC's comments were fairly minimal with one exception, which we'll be opening a follow-up drafting ticket for. They won't hold up work for this sprint.

Pages updated with guidance for presidential campaigns (we will add to this list as we publish the updates). Thank you to @kathycarothers for being the second pair of eyes. In some cases, the edits are very small and geared towards making the page inclusive of all types of federal candidates. The edits were approved by the FEC's Office of General Counsel.

We've changed the slugs for the candidate and committee registration pages and have put in a redirect for both. I'll need to check proxy and www redirects and put in a ticket if needed for the old candidate registration brochure redirect. Thanks @patphongs

https://www.fec.gov/help-candidates-and-committees/registering-candidate/house-and-senate-candidate-committee-registration/ now redirects to the new slug of https://www.fec.gov/help-candidates-and-committees/registering-candidate/house-senate-presidential-candidate-committee-registration/

https://www.fec.gov/help-candidates-and-committees/registering-candidate/house-and-senate-candidate-registration/ now redirects to the new slug of https://www.fec.gov/help-candidates-and-committees/registering-candidate/house-senate-president-candidate-registration/

The candidate registration collection page had some links and text updated. https://www.fec.gov/help-candidates-and-committees/registering-candidate/

We need to update some text on https://www.fec.gov/help-candidates-and-committees/guides/. Unfortunately that is a front-end ticket, so I will put in an implementation ticket for 9.5 for that.

Content team work is complete on this ticket, so closing.
