What we're after: We have content that still lives on classic that users find helpful when learning about and how to use our .fec files. To make sure all users, including those who don't already have this page on classic bookmarked, we need to find a home for this information on .gov.

The information in question currently lives here: https://classic.fec.gov/press/data_tutorials.shtml

One possible place we can consider placing this content is alongside or commingled with the information for How to research public records, here: https://www.fec.gov/introduction-campaign-finance/how-to-research-public-records/

Completion criteria:

  • Find a home for this content on .gov. Consider the "How to research public records" page
  • Does this content need to be in the menu?
  • Can we incorporate "help" type information on the data tables?
  • Where are our users already looking for this kind of helpful information?
  • Compile recommendations
  • Make necessary mock-ups
  • Discuss in design sync

Hi @JonellaCulmer Just wanted to drop the stop gap page (now live) links in here for your use.

We've linked the intermediate page at https://www.fec.gov/introduction-campaign-finance/how-to-research-public-records/#data-tutorials. Direct link to the page is https://www.fec.gov/introduction-campaign-finance/data-tutorials/.
