To help PACs and party committees understand how to report campaign finance transactions, we will draft and post reporting examples that will go with the nonconnected, SSF, and party sections within Help for Candidates and Committees.

This covers creating the language in the 3rd round of reporting examples.

Completion criteria

  • Identify no more than 10 examples to include in this sprint.
  • Draft example (language only) using existing campaign guides.
  • Draft image caption language when possible.
  • Find links for FECFile videos, FECFile getting started manuals, and other resources to be included with the example.

Worked with the great @dorothyyeager to come up with the next set of 10 reporting examples.

Authorized example

  • Converting to a multicandidate committee

IEs made by committees (Form 3X: separate examples for SSFs & NC)

  • Filing 24 & 48 hr Schedule Es, reporting on regularly scheduled reports
  • Pre-paying IEs
  • Estimating costs

IEs made by not-committees (Form 5)

  • Filing 24/48 hr reports
  • Filing regularly scheduled reports
  • Estimating costs

Finished drafting the example for how to convert to a multicandidate committee. Will send that through RAD-Authorized review next week.

Adjusting scope for this set of reporting examples after pairing with @dorothyyeager yesterday. We're getting Form 5 IE filer examples through drafting and SME review before moving on to the committee IE filers on Form 3x. This way, we can stagger reviews and try to make the examples parallel to the extent possible.

Drafts to include for PAC examples, Round 3:

  • converting to a multicandidate committee
  • 24-hr reports
  • 48-hr reports
  • quarterly reports
  • estimating the cost of an IE
  • "example scenario" for how to aggregate IEs together
