Improve / validate socks proxy support

Until recent changes (#6371), authenticated socks proxy support did not work with any of the http clients. It now should with jetty and vertx. We should allow it to work with jdk and okhttp as well.

Relates to #6372 because at least vertx does not support anything other than username/password socks proxy authentication.
