With the new requiements from CRAN which are enforced manually, it would be beneficial to have an automated way to check for these without submitting to cran and waiting for manual review.

As far as I can tell so far these are:

  • only 2 threads are used
  • offline is used
  • configure and configure.win prevent the package from trying to compile when rust and cargo are not available
  • able to compile when cargo is not on the path
  • versions of cargo and rustc are printed during installation
