ENHANCEMENT - play as different factions #125
Comments
This is extremely cool ( I am a little sad because I wanted to create a rom hack which does just that) |
A rom hack would be cool, but even better if it's integrated into the regular game. Of course, I'm open to any ideas that you have about different upgrades available to each faction, and I'll of course consider your suggestions when building this. I'm thinking of re-arranging some existing parts of the game. e.g. currently you can unlock the ability to build a decimator via an achievement, but maybe it should be a goblin exclusive weapon. Do I need three glossaries now, or can I do it with one if I organize it well... Each faction will need lots of new blocks, and there'll be a lot of work to do here. I think I'll start by adding a single sylph faction, and see how it goes. |
Will the different factions have separate leaderboards? |
I'd like to add this feature without developing three separate sets of levels. But some dialog will need to change, mainly in parts where goblins refer to you as humans. |
I'm not sure yet, but possibly they should. At the very least, the leaderboard would have to show which faction you played as. |
I'm thinking about a feature where you can select and play as different factions when starting a new adventure.
The idea would be that each faction would be able to build different types of factories, and consequently, different types of blocks. Humans would build a workshop, and upgrade to a manufactory. Other factions would build other specialized factory blocks instead of a workshop, and then upgrade to other factory blocks.
I don't know when I'll find the time to add this feature, but it could be interesting.
Maybe the other factions would become available when beating the game, or when completing certain quests.
