Does anybody know which hard disk drivers support formatting and using multiple LUNs on an Atari ST? In the wiki it says that HDDRIVER supports this but since it costs ~50 USD I'm motivated to find a less costly alternative.
I'm using a Tech by Androda Desktop F4Lite BlueSCSI V1.1 in an Atari Mega STE, connected to its internal ACSI-to-SCSI adapter, which works fine with an HP ProDrive LPS 525 hard drive. This adapter is weird in that it only supports a single SCSI device, only on SCSI ID 0, only up to 1 GB in size, doesn't provide termination power, and requires termination to be disabled. So I've removed the termination resistor packs from the BlueSCSI and I'm powering it via a molex-to-berg adapter. I've updated the BlueSCSI firmware to 1.1-2022-12-20 which adds support for "Mega STE mode" (which treats SCSI IDs in hda filenames as LUNs).
I'm using a 4 GB micro SD card. I've formatted the SD card as ExFAT using a 2010 iMac. I've placed an empty file called MSTE_MODE on the SD card to enable Mega STE mode along with larger zeroed files named HD00_512.hda, HD10_512.hda, HD20_512.hda, HD30_512.hda. Using the free/abandonware ICD hard disk formatter, I can see and format and use the first LUN but the others do not appear. LOG.txt on the SD card shows all four hda files being loaded. Using the demo version of the latest HDDRIVER, 11.14, all four LUNs are seen.
The hard drive had a copy of HDDRIVER 8.11 on it, but this is > 20 years old and appears to be able to see only the first two LUNs. Support for 8 LUNs was added in version 8.40.
