the squiggle font in redacted screenshots doesn't respect my system font scaling #113

What Happened?

This is arguably a corner case and a tiny inconvenience, at most. Also - if it belongs to Gala - sorry, feel free to move there.

So, I increased my system font size (under Desktop > Text) to make the system more comfortable to use on 14" 1080p screen. Just to like 105 or 110 %, so it doesn't warrant full UI scaling. Very nice feature btw, really thanks for that!

Then, when I take a screenshot with the "redact text" feature, the font is briefly swapped for the "squiggle font" (cannot remember the name of it) - this squiggle font doesn't read my text-scaling setting though, so the whole UI slightly shrinks as the font size drops to 100%, and then it bounces back to my set scale.

It is brief, but looks a little odd. Also, a redacted screenshot of a window will have different dimensions than unredacted shot of the same window, which can be uneasy on OCD people (like me) doing e.g. some tutorial with series of screenshots of the same window. A niche within the corner case, sure... 😅

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Set font scaling to non-default value in Desktop > Text. The bigger difference from default, the easier to see the effect, but I use a tiny 105% (arrow up once).
  2. Open the Screenshot tool.
  3. Toggle the "redacted text" feature ON.
  4. Take a screenshot - the UI jumps in size as the font changes to "squiggles", then jumps back following the font change.

Expected Behavior

The feature should be aware of my system font scaling, so the "squiggle font" is used in the correct size, so the UI doesn't have to jump to accommodate it.

OS Version

6.x (Odin)
