I've only seen this once or twice. seems to be working atm. Suspect it only fails with particular classes of errors.

haven't seen failures to retry in ages. i suspect this was being conflated with the problem that if you have a large sync response you may have insufficient bandwidth to download it before the JS SDK times out and knifes the request. Opening a new bug for that.
