This issue has existed on my devices (iPhone 12 and iPad 9th generation) for a long while now, but since multiple updates have been pushed with no fix I'm assuming the issue isn't known.

Messages are randomly spaced very strangely in chats. I've yet to find a specific cause for it. I've only found that it happens exclusively under messages with reactions, read receipts, replies or new date separators. Below are screenshots.

This is most likely caused by iOS 16 and we're tracking it already here #6441. Closing as duplicate if you don't mind.
