If it is not self-verified (or if cross-signing is not enabled?).

If cross-signing is on, that can be normal and we can redirect the user to the "Complete Security" flow (#3049).
Need UX direction here.

@BillCarsonFr we had a discussion on this for Riot X recently, I believe the conclusion was that:

  • If cross-signing is enabled, we decorate the device list as other users would see it
  • If cross-signing is disabled we display black shields on all device lists, but I can't recall if the device you're viewing this list from is decorated green.

Is that accurate?

Riot-web displays all black:

It asks you a passphrase to recover your e2e if you click on a device.
