I have a suggestion for this text:

Formats allow you to control the display of specific values. Formats can also change the value and turn off highlighting in Discover.

If these are only "numeric" values, I'd use that word instead of specific in the first sentence. Also in the second sentence, what does "change the value" mean? Change the value of the data?

The second sentence sounds like a warning, and I'm wondering if we should treat it as such.

@gchaps I removed maps from the label and tag. This message is displayed in index pattern field formatter configuration and is not part of the maps application.
