It looks like the node default on 64gb machines is 4GB, which is way too much. Elasticsearch's default is 1GB and Kibana shouldn't need anywhere close to that. I propose we limit it to 512mb and let users raise it as needed.

Is this done? Is there any way for users of the current latest release to limit Kibana's memory requirements?

I'm wondering the same thing as @johanatan, there doesn't seem to be any mention of memory usage in Kibana's documentation (I'm gladly proven wrong about this btw).

I am closing this as we have long since stabilized the memory usage and are no longer hitting the max-old-space-size.
