Identify indices that do not have index patterns #25538

@alexfrancoeur I do think spaces makes this somewhat weird. Also index aliases complicate this, as they could have an index pattern that matches an alias corresponding to an index. |

@alexfrancoeur I'd like to see if this is something we should move forward or simply decide its not worthwhile. Would it be helpful if the functionality was provided via an user action such as pressing a button? This is in contrast to getting some sort of 'you have new data!' notification. |
Thank you for contributing to this issue, however, we are closing this issue due to inactivity as part of a backlog grooming effort. If you believe this feature/bug should still be considered, please reopen with a comment. |
Multiple teams are tagged on this. I'm going to reopen because this issue is still valid IMO and remove the AppSvc team. |

Closing this because it's not planned to be resolved in the foreseeable future. It will be tracked in our Icebox and will be re-opened if our priorities change. Feel free to re-open if you think it should be melted sooner. |
There are some users that would like to be notified if a new index that's been added to the cluster does not have an index pattern. We may be able to take advantage of the index management page here though now that index patterns are space specific, this may not be the best implementation.
Generally, it'd probably be good to understand when new sources of data are available for analysis, exploration and visualization. As we begin to think about how index patterns evolve, this may be something to consider.
