Currently it seems that if you navigate to your Kibana 4 URL, you end up on the Discover page with a default time selection of "Last 15 minutes", which is perfectly reasonable. Upon loading a saved dashboard, however, that time selection persists.
In my case, I have a dashboard I've saved that tracks our hourly AWS billing reports, but it's only valuable when looking at 1w+ of data - so I set my time picker to "This month" (these relative selections are killer, by the way!), and save my dashboard.
Navigating away from Kibana 4, then back to the stock Discover page before continuing on to load my dashboard sticks me back to the Last 15 minutes time picker value.
(Note: I have every intention of sending out the explicit URL for my dashboard when I share it, but it would be nice for folks to be able to switch between dashboards without having to select an appropriate time window every time if it's been (seemingly) saved to the dashboard.)
I like the new direction overall, keep up the good work!
