Custom conditional assets is one of the more powerful things about Canvas. It's just not easy to use because you need to go into the expression language. It would be great if we had a UI that allowed you to set rules to show assets for a given state. Thresholds, text match, etc.

I'd like to see this as generic support for conditional arguments. Then we can create an element that pre-fills a conditional image, there-by creating a conditional asset element without introducing specialized code.
