I would imagine this looks the same as the current highlighter which makes the hovered element slightly lighter, see story below.
No, as of yet there is very little programmatically controlled interactions available in ech. The only one I know of is selection related to the heatmap selected range. |
This isn't what they are looking for. We already clarified this in the original request https://github.com/elastic/sdh-kibana/issues/3298 What they are asking is more of a non-interactive highlight since they want it to be displayed in the pdf of the generated dashboard (where hovering will not work) |
@siying-soo this was clear. Nick just points out how the highlight should look into the chart. |
@stratoula Can you help to explain me the roadmap between Lens and tsvb please? |
@chidspark do you mean our roadmap about this feature? In general we don't add new things in TSVB. We would like to deprecate the old editors and keep only Lens ideally. About this specific feature in Lens is something we should think about very well and is not on our priorities atm. |
@ninoslavmiskovic @stratoula , OK, if TSVB is not a viable option for the customer to accomplish their technical/ business requirement, what is the best alternative we can recommend? Please let us know if the technical requirement is not clear. We really need to go back to the customer with a viable solution. Besides, with us positioning anomaly detection as a game changer, many customers will ask for the same capability. |
@sareen-elastic do you refer on the highlight serie or on the drilldown to discover capability? Because these are 2 different enhancements. This issue refers to the highlight serie and if we decide to proceed with this will be in Lens and not in TSVB. |
@stratoula , highlight series is what I am referring to in my query. Would this capability be made available in Lens? In other words, is that already on the roadmap? |
Got it, I am going to discuss it with the team and update the issue when I have more information about adding this to our roadmap. I am thinking to give it as a Lens capability as we are trying to deprecate the old editors but I will have more info when I discuss it with the team! |
@sareen-elastic just some questions to ensure that I got the request correctly. We want to add this on a dashboard level and instead of filtering out series, we want to highlight the serie(s) that satisfies a query/filter. This should also be visible on a pdf report. Am I right? |
@stratoula yes that's correct |
@stratoula , is this now requirement part of Lens roadmap yet? If not, when are we likely to hear back. We owe the customer a response. Thanks. |
Also want to highlight that should this static highlight feature be implemented as part of Lens upcoming roadmap, converting the customer's existing TSVB to Lens shouldn't be an issue. |
@timductive @ninoslavmiskovic I think you are best here to answer for Lens roadmap. |
I have replied @sareen-elastic by e-mail and proposed the next steps to understand the needs further. |
In order to provide better transparency of priorities, issues that will not be prioritized within the next 24 months are being closed. Tracking request in Lens general improvements ice box #184459 |
Describe the feature:
There are cases that the users want to highlight a specific serie that satisfies some criteria. For example I want to highlight a specific host but without hiding the rest information from the chart. Right now we only support filtering out series (the series that do not satisfy the criteria is hidden) but not a highlight feature.
Questions for discussion
This can be useful on a presentation level but also on the editor.
