This amazing PR #124191 will give the users the ability to give a custom name to their dataviews make this problem less annoying. @cchaos do you think that there is any enhancement that we could do on the dataview picker in order to make the index patterns easier to be identified? (We have the full name on the tooltip but still not the best UX) |
There are a couple options we can explore here, one being increasing the width of the popover if there are long data view names. But there will always be a cut off point. So, the custom data view names will be something we lean into here in the future. |

I am closing this for now as you can give a custom name to your dataview. I hope that this will solve the problem, otherwise we can always re-open and explore ideas. |
Describe the feature:
Within the Data View selector it should expand to display the full name of the dataview. Now that we are using Datastreams and Cross Cluster Search we have a lot of data views that are too long to be displayed in the current UI. The problem is that the datastream name is at the end of the pattern so I have no way to know which one I am selecting until I click
For example, I can't determine which of these three dataviews I'm selecting in the data view UI.
