While attempting to reproduce #121833 I created a 7.16.0 cluster on Elastic Cloud and tried upgrading the APM package from 7.16.0 to 7.16.2:

After clicking "Upgrade" I am getting the error [request body.elasticsearch]: definition for this key is missing

Ah, I see now that the fix was backported to 7.17 but not 7.16

Yeah it's an easy backport, although I'm not sure if 7.16 will have another stack release.
