Is there a timeline on when the versions will be bumped to 8.0.0?

Also, any chance we can have multiple versions maintained? (MongoDB, etc. do this, it helps immensely when there is a need to test against legacy versions)

Cheers!

Sounds like the homebrew install mechanism will NOT be supported going forward: #126 (comment)

It's absolutely moronic that they decided not to support any reasonable installation method on MacOS besides using docker.

The more I use Elastic products the more I hate them. The company is going down the drain on all fronts from the terrible support on their cloud service to the developer experience seemingly being destroyed by decisions like this.

So I ran into this as well and solved it by tweaking my local files a little. Maybe this helps anyone.

Firstly, I got an undefined method plist_options'` error whilst trying, which I solved by running: #150 (comment)

Then I changed the url in elasticsearch-full.rb (https://github.com/elastic/homebrew-tap/blob/main/Formula/elasticsearch-full.rb#L4) to https://artifacts.elastic.co/downloads/elasticsearch/elasticsearch-8.11.4-darwin-x86_64.tar.gz?tap=elastic/homebrew-tap and version to 8.11.4. I also commented out the sha256 line.

Finally I just ran brew install elastic/tap/elasticsearch-full and restarted elasticsearch.
I did receive some more errors, but those were solved with another restart. Probably because version 7 was still running.
