Request for icons for each of the machine learning data frame analytics jobs.
These icons will be used in the Data Frame Analytics job creation wizard for job selection and will be displayed in small cards along with a brief description of the job type.

These are really complicated ideas to be summed up into a single 16x16 pixel glyph. Based on your description you're already supplying the name of the thing with a description of it. Cards work just as well without any icons. Are they truly necessary and would they need to be used outside of these cards?

The icons would allow the analytics job type selection to be consistent with the anomaly detection job type selection:

The other ML icons in https://elastic.github.io/eui/#/display/icons look to be 32x32

I had chatted with @mdefazio about incorporating the icons into the job selection - so afaik this is still the suggested design.

We'd also be able to use the icons in other upcoming features that are visual-heavy and would benefit from recognizable icons for types of jobs.

Ok, then I'll assign @mdefazio since it seems he's most aware of this.

Looks like you already did 😉

Here is a first go at these icons.
My goal with these was really trying to stay in the same style and reusing the elements. Classification might be a bit vague and too close to some of the others. I think Regression is probably the one that needs the most help as it feels a bit far off from the others. But hopefully we're going down the right path. Any advice towards content theme would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, @mdefazio! 🙌

I think the outlier icon looks pretty good. Regression seems okay - it only works with numerical values so if there's a way to reflect that, that could be a good improvement but it looks alright as is if that isn't possible.

The classification one is a bit too similar to the anomaly detection icons and could use some changes to reflect putting items in classes.

Here's an update to the Regression and Classification options.
I tried some options for Regression using numbers, or number tokens, but it feels too literal as compared to the other icons. These original ones are all quite abstract. So I made some tweaks to the original idea to see if we like it more.

Trying a few options for the classification icon as well—I was a bit torn on which version I liked. I think I like the last the most, but all of them are no longer as similar to the anomaly detection icons.

Thanks for the updates, @mdefazio! 🙏

I think the first Regression option should work

As for classification I think the second option you showed should work.

Thank you!

Approved set. Will add these to the ML group in the EUI library.
