Kibana version:
Kibana: 8.0.0-SNAPSHOT

Elasticsearch version:
Elasticsearch: 8.0.0-SNAPSHOT

Host OS and Browser version:
Windows 10x64 , All

Original install method (e.g. download page, yum, from source, etc.):
From 8.0.0-SNAPSHOT Kibana

Description
Activity logs are not displayed on installing elastic agent with new install command

Preconditions

  1. 8.0.0-SNAPSHOT Kibana environment should be available

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open the 8.0.0-SNAPSHOT Kibana environment in browser.
  2. Download the Winx64 8.0.0 latest agent from GCP link(https://console.cloud.google.com/storage/browser/beats-ci-artifacts/snapshots/elastic-agent?pageState=%28%22StorageObjectListTable%22:%28%22f%22:%22%255B%255D%22%29%29&prefix=&forceOnObjectsSortingFiltering=false)
  3. RDP to the endpoint and place the agent.
  4. Unarchive the agent
  5. Open powershell as admin and run the command for interactive mode:
    ./elastic-agent install
  6. Proceed further and provide the kibana url and Fleet enrollment token.
  7. Observe that agent is enrolled under fleet tab but has no activity logs.

Activity logs should be displayed successfully installing elastic agent with new install command

  • Agent is in Online status

What's not working

  • Issue is also occurring on integration with elastic endpoint security

this looks fixed to me in the newest build. when we're posting snapshot builds, please do post a version (the hash, preferably) - for example, this hash (latest) 8.0.0-f437c552: which is from the download page:
https://snapshots.elastic.co/8.0.0-f437c552/downloads/beats/elastic-agent/elastic-agent-8.0.0-SNAPSHOT-darwin-x86_64.tar.gz

and for Kibana you can hit the /status api and get the commit cited. which you or someone can translate with a 'git show -s asfasdf' command to see the date.
