FYI: Proto editions are coming #97

Hi!

Proto editions are a new way of handling language versioning for protobufs.
https://protobuf.dev/news/2023-06-29/

While there won't be a hard requirement to change the syntax immediately, I imagine that it will be necessary to eventually transition some of the example protos in this package.

Help will be welcome :) Maybe you and @MichaelChirico can maybe spear head something? I believe you could folks use this daily, I am mostly a care taker maintainer here.

SG. The protobuf team will likely run an internal cleanup, and we can move over results once that's done.
