Selecting unpinned elements

To be able to easily find and manipulate unpinned elements on a diagram, in the ‘Pinning’ dialog box, it should be possible to exit the dialog with the elements marked as selected on the diagram.

This behaviour seems strange. The goal of the ‘Pinning’ dialog box is to change the pin status not to change the selection of the elements in the diagram. What is the final goal sought?
