Node.js 12 will reach EOL on 2022-04-30.

You may have already considered that but current nodejs LTS is v16 so, if it doesn't require extra effort, we should update to that version.

internal build detail, not N&N for downstream (other than that we avoided the EOL of Node 12 and have updated to the latest 16 LTS when building).
