<p>I got my first scrollsaw in 2010 and since then I can't think of anything I'd rather be doing. I make what is called “scrollsaw art” which includes both wall plaques free standing pieces.</p>

My art follows some common themes:

<li>Southwest scenes</li>
<li>Christian religious symbols and sayings</li>
<li>Holiday related, especially Christmas ornaments</li>
<li>Whimsical</li>
<li>Animals</li>

<p>I cut these from varying thicknesses of wood, some plywood and some hardwood, from 1/32in to 3/4in. The intricate designs on many of the pieces are called fretwork. Some require a spiral blade that can cut in any direction, others a blade not much thicker
than a human hair.</p>
