Currently, there isn't any easy way to submit images inline with articles. Authors could host them elsewhere themselves or link directly to another website, but this is not a great solution in the long run as it may result in certain images going missing if the creator decides to move / change them - not to mention other problems with usage permissions; certain hosts may not like us publishing pages that fetch images from their servers. We will need to ensure that all images can be / are published under the public domain, too.
I'm not sure how to do this - we could have an images folder in this repository for submitters to put their images in, but that means that all of the URLs would have to go to /_posts/images/<image> rather than the more intuitive ./images/<image> that one would expect to use. Making a PR to add the images to another repository before submitting the article would also yield similar problems (not to mention the increased amount of work for the submitter).
Maybe a separate repository for images (with the same attribution / CLA) is the best idea? /images/<image> is at least a tiny bit more intuitive. It doesn't solve all of our problems, though.
