Can we show the rendered Rmarkdown? (Can be rendered to HTML, markdown, pdf, ...)

At the moment no rendered Rmarkdown is showed to the student. The knitr package has a function knitr::render but this function can only take a filename as input and no raw text. As i understood you don't like to use files because in this workflow path leaks can occur. So the question for this issue is how can we render the Rmarkdown to HTML, markdown, pdf,... in a good way
