Just the question.I really like the idea of djongo but I encounter a lot of trouble with current version. It would be nice to know is djongo still developing.

It was a cool idea in general, but without the official Django support or active maintenance from the owner(s) it will always be behind, if being developed at all.
No commits for a long time related to actual functionality. It seems to be dead.
I used Djongo a lot in my projects in Django 4.x days, but then I had get rid of it.
Incompatibilities, constant pain with every, even minor Django updates, made it totally impossible to use.
