For both Prometheus and PCP persistent tools, it should be possible for a Tool Data Sink instance that can access either a Prometheus exporter or PMCD instance to collect what ever is available of the requested data from those sources.

It might be necessary to provide the proper authentication mechanisms in certain cases.
