As a future improvement, a filter that can simulate the effects of field crowding based on source position relative to the galactic plane would be useful - Tom Wilson apparently has a model that might be adapted for this use.

Poking at this further - TRILEGAL has already been run for the LSST footprint. So we have simulated stellar population down to the deep stack magnitudes for Rubin, so I think there's something we might be able to infer from the models like crowding and a rough hit on limited magnitude for separate sources. See this paper: https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.3847/1538-4365/ac7be6 and the resulting dataset: https://datalab.noirlab.edu/query.php?name=lsst_sim.simdr2
Worth nothing this is only an issue for simulated pointing database being over optimistic on the limiting magnitude in the galactic plane.
