Why are there red LaTeX like symbols in my notebook?
The original textbook that the Devito Book is based upon contains a lot of custom LaTeX commands. We are still looking into how a file of custom LaTeX commands can be imported easily into a set of Jupyter notebooks. For the meantime, please use the Jupyter notebook find and replace tool (see below) to replace the red custom LaTeX commands with their pure LaTeX counterparts, as defined in this file.
You can apply formatting throughout a notebook by clicking Edit -> Find and Replace. Then click the up-and-down button (as shown below) to replace all occurrences.
