start recording keypresses earlier

I often do "ctrl+R "
but now I have to wait for hishstory to load before I can type
so either make it load faster (and maybe not show all history)
or capture types characters earlier and then pass them to hishtory

Just to confirm, what version of hishtory are you using (you can check from hishtory status)? Hishtory's control-r got a lost faster in 9472294 so I'm wondering if you have a recent enough version to include that commit.

Regardless, leaving this issue open since this does seem like a good further optimization.

I installed latest via brew on nov 27th so that commit would have been in there afaik

👍 If you go ahead and upgrade (via hishtory update) you'll get the latest version which should be significantly faster. Please reopen this if you are still experiencing any latency issues!

it's better now, but if you can start listening to stdin even earlier that would be great :)
