When simonw/datasette#2052 merges, I wonder if we could let other Datasette plugins that use the JavaScript Plugin API to make cusom input fields for columns.

Some ideas:

  • upload file from google drive
  • Paste in a S3 bucket URL
  • Currency inputs
  • Custom date/time picker
  • Enum/dropdown selection
  • Text input with validation (regex, etc..)
  • Color pickers

simonw/datasette#2052 is merged now, I was also wondering about custom input fields and think this is a cool idea.
