Crossplane 1.9.x with KinD cluster. Without any recognized way to recreate the issue.

Occasionally a providerconfig will hang on the finalizer, even when all of the resources are deleted and there are no providerconfigusages listed. Can only delete the providerconfig by manually deleting the finalizer.

I'll move this over to crossplane-runtime, since that's where the ProviderConfig reconciler lives.

Sounds like this is hard to repro, but if it happens again I'd be curious to know:

  • Does running the provider with --debug say anything interesting?
  • Does it happen across multiple different providers?
