Hi CWA Folx!

Really nice update today. Very grateful. Looking at the new features, I immediately saw where a useful enhancement could be offered to make status checking by stores, restaurants, train staff, hairdressers etc. much easier. It would also offer more accuracy in terms of actual health status.

Current Implementation

Today's update, v 2.16.1, helpfully offers a "Proof of Status XG" on the Certificate tab right above the QR code.

Suggested Enhancement

Users with 3 doses (fully-vaccinated + booster) show as 2G. . . when according to the German classification, they are 1G. And if they have a negative test, they are 1G+.

The enhancement is to offer the user's exact status: 1G+, 1G, 2G+, 2G, 3G but HIDDEN so that only the QR reader can see it, by replacing the visible XG with either another QR code or by some other means.

Expected Benefits

The present system hides the fact that the user is actually vaccinated, which makes it difficult for those close-to-the-body workers, restaurants or events who may want to specify 1G or higher as the Omicron Wall hits Germany harder.

While 2G or 2G+ is mandated in certain places in Germany, there is no easy way for event, retail or close-to-the-body workers to ascertain 1G, if that's how they want to do business. This feature will likely become more pertinent as Omicron worsens as it has in France, the UK, US & Denmark. Close-to-the-body workers esp. may want to have some certainty that 1G+ is in the correct status when the incidence hits 2,800.

Apparently the motivation is to protect the privacy of those who are recovered. However, just openly displaying the XG already exposes the status to view of workers who are checking, people standing in line with you and possibly others.

It's not actually private at all.

Whereas the enhancement would allow the app to offer the exact & accurate XG status while maintaining total privacy from casual view.

With a good majority of Germans jabbed & more boosting every day, there's no discrimination in coding exact status. And it allows businesses the flexibility and certainty they need to keep their staff safe during the worst of the coming wave.

As it is now, many hairdressers & other businesses request to see the yellow passport, which immediately tells them how many jabs you have. The enhancement offers better security, certainty and privacy in these common daily use cases.

This request is probably not relevant any more since 2G/3G status is no longer displayed by CWA. See https://www.coronawarn.app/en/faq/results/#admission_policy

"Update on September 28, 2022:
The status proof (3G, 3G+, 2G, 2G+) is currently not relevant and therefore not shown by the app"
