Issue with OSX-64 and OSX-arm64 Build: CXX Compiler Error

Issue

We have a package that needs to be built for OSX-64 and OSX-arm64 (https://github.com/conda-forge/ambertools-feedstock). The build was working fine around 4 months ago (https://github.com/conda-forge/ambertools-feedstock/runs/26255194500), but the exact same script now fails with the following error (https://github.com/conda-forge/ambertools-feedstock/runs/31369531463):

CMake Error at AmberTools/src/nlopt/CMakeLists.txt:173 (message):
  The compiler doesn't support CXX.

I tried using conda-forge-admin, please rerender to update the build, but it did not resolve the issue. Could someone provide guidance on what changes may have occurred with the OSX build in the last four months that could help me diagnose and fix this problem?
