Users will always prefer to use copy/paste of url because that’s what they understand better mostly. |
Sure @spereverde but in 6 years of Plone I had nerver this issue. Either with kupu or TinyMCE. May be because to copy paste an URL you have to click on 'External Link' |
It's more or less a feature of ckeditor that can be reproduced on other platforms (I experienced the same bug on drupal this week). If I remember well TinyMCE make relative internal urls found in the textarea just before store it in the field. I will check with TinyMCE maintainers. |
You are indeed correct that something could be done to improve the order of the different link options, or indeed move the copy/paste url option to another tab or something, to make sure people are ‘guided’ towards the correct way of adding internal links. |

With the current UI of the link plugin:
They tend to use copy / paste of URL instead of "Browser server" button.
I don't have any solution at the moment only proposal:
Move the blue button up to the URL input and update the button label with: "Select the content you want to create link for" or something more understandble. The word "Server" make users afraid of doing sth wrong and the fact it is after make it kind of "validate" button.
