The main issue here is not the implementation of search helpers (the how) but probably the where. Does it make sense to add search helpers in this repo or how can they be integrated otherwise? As such, this is related to #2.

See #17 which added support for custom functions/filters. As such, IMO there's no immediate use case for this.

Removing milestone for now.

This is now best solved via https://twig.symfony.com/doc/1.x/filters/filter.html which is available as of twig v1.41.0 (2019-05-14) 👍
