Leaving this up to capture the rough vision of where I want to take this application, and using more tightly scoped release issues (ex #231 ) to capture imminent work. Also maybe someone uses this app someday, and naturally wonders what the plan is for its future. As of now, something like this (unordered)
Cloud sync (local-first and byo-sync already supported) possible paid feature?
Web UI possible paid feature?
Possible paid features
Paid features are a big maybe from me, and if so definitely as an opt-in add-on. Without them app will just work, can sync local files via Dropbox or whatever, etc. But I have some needs (like, can't use this app at work easily), and some wants (would be nice to auto-publish to a hosted blog I don't have to mange), that fit well into some kind of paid service.
Non features
Chronicles is focused on the kind of daily (ish) note taking I take, and that I see MANY of my colleagues taking in various forms. Its goal is to make it easy to just write and go, and have reasonable features for viewing / linking / searching, and to have a relatively opinionated flow and "complete" out of the box feature set. Other note applications will be more suitable in various scenarios:
Collaborative notes: Use notion or Google docs, or something else; IMO that space is well explored.
Wiki-style organization / publish: Use Obsidian
Mind mapping / outlining: Use Roam / Logseq maybe?
